ABSTRACT
In this study, we present a numerical solution for three dimensional laminar flow of Herschel-Bulkley
non-Newtonian fluids in the entrance region of a rectangular duct. The governing equations are solved
iteratively by using finite difference method to obtain velocity components, pressure and friction
factor. Modifications in computations of the transverse velocities by introducing a second order
accurate finite difference representation of the differential form of the continuity equation are
presented in this study. The results are presented in Tables and Figures for different parameters for the
fluid and the duct geometry.
