This paper is an effort to theorize and map some of the general
lineaments and contours featuring sporadically in many of today’s
buildings that we contend are influenced by the digital revolution.
These characteristics are representative, not exclusive, of the forces
influencing architecture in the digital age.
The paper focuses on specific issues and introduce them in the form
of aphorisms—short and concise statements about a particular
principle and pattern that we contend is emerging in architecture in
the digital age—followed by a discussion.
It is important to note that in this paper we do not intend to typify the
course of architecture in a particular country or movement, but are
pointing at the ideas that are likely to serve as models for architects
throughout the world.
