ABSTRACT
The engineers do tremendous work to design a control system and expecting all conditions of
system operation, its ambient environment and its changes; and they calculate the parameters
of the controller according to that information. Unfortunately, when the control system is
realized and introduced to the real operation it is fail due to some unpredictable changes may
affect its performance or even take it to instability.
To over come this problem adaptive control system is used which has the property of
adjusting its parameters automatically to maintain the performance of the control system
within acceptable bounds. Several types of adaptive control systems are used today, one of
them is Model Reference Adaptive Control systems (MRAC). The model reference adaptive
control system is use a model which is fulfill the desired response and its output is compared
with the output of the system and the error between them is used to generate a control signal
which force the system to follow the model.
In this paper, a design of MRAC system for a speed control of a DC Motor is given. Also,
how the adaptive controller change its parameters to sustain the desired response of the
system.
Haaahhha. I'm not too bright today. Great post!
