ABSTRACT
In the technically improved countries the opportunity of building in more sensitive on-line
devices with better response time (measuring nitrate, ammonia, ortho-phosphate, COD) in
great quantities presents itself. These instruments make the parallel development of control
possible. At the same time an adequate theoretical knowledge of the system is needed, this
may be provided by the simulation of the actual configuration according to the models
available.
To give judgement on the results of the control reaching the quality-limits of treated water is
in itself not enough because the basic motive is cost optimization. Therefore the effectiveness
of the control mentioned in the title can be valued with appropriate cost analysis whereof the
fines enforced towards protecting the receiver cannot be omitted. Such examinations
nowadays in control engineering are called benchmark-tests. In this paper the main aspects of
such series of international studies are presented and analysed.
According to the examinations the results of the simulation would fit the reality better if the
effects of instrumental and electric noises are built in the calculations
