APPLICATION OF THE MARQUARDT-LEVENBERG MINIMIZATION METHOD TO OPTIMIZE PARAMETERS OF A THERMODYNAMIC MODEL

ABSTRACT

In this modeling work, we have applied the Marquardt-Levenberg method to optimize parameters

of a thermodynamic model. The mathematical method was applied for 11 systems including

aqueous solutions of electrolytes. The thermodynamic model used requires three parameters for

optimization. We have elaborated a computer code in FORTRAN language for this purpose. The

results show that the minimization method used is very accurate and converge after a few

iterations. The model parameters are optimized with a good precision.
